OUR
WE’VE BEEN COOKING UP DELICIOUS BRISTOL FOOD EXPERIENCES SINCE 2023
Founded in late 2023, Food Tours of Bristol is a small, independently-run business dedicated to showcasing the brilliance of Bristol’s food scene.
Food is such a brilliant way to connect, so our tours not only celebrate what you’re eating, but also who made it, taking you behind the scenes to discover more about the amazing businesses and the people who run them. In our opinion, that makes the already-delicious food taste even better…
MIGUEL | FOUNDER & GUIDE
I’d be lying if I said I dreamed of moving to Bristol as a kid in Vancouver, Canada, but love is funny like that: it takes you to places you’d never have guessed. That’s how I ended up moving to the UK in 2019 with my wife, Hannah, to be closer to her family in Somerset.
With a near-two decade stint in hospitality back home, my most recent job over here was as the restaurant manager at Bertha’s Pizza on Wapping Wharf. I was immediately welcomed into the vibrant foodie scene with open arms, and it very quickly became apparent that Bristol is a city that LOVES supporting independent businesses (and that there were so many good ones to choose from!).
‘BUT WHY FOOD TOURS?’, I HEAR YOU ASK…
After learning the joy of joining food tours during my solo travels in South America in 2016, I joined the Vancouver Foodie Tours team to lead tours in Vancouver. Back in Bristol, as I connected with other local independent restaurants, breweries, distilleries and food vendors, as well as the residents and visitors who were coming to enjoy their goods, I realised I could bring that same energy of joy, community and discovery here. Food Tours of Bristol came to life as a way of bringing it all together and showing off the best of the beautiful city I now call home (and the dad jokes I’m most proud of, too).
When I’m not leading a tour or researching the food we eat on it (it’s a hard life, but someone’s gotta do it), you can find me catching up on the NFL, brushing up on my stand up comedy and improv, or listening to the Off Menu Podcast (James Acaster, if you’re reading this and want a tour of the best food spots in Bristol…you know who to call).
